Things to Do

What should I discover in the Mendrisiotto region?

We are so happy you’ll be spending time in this beautiful corner of Ticino with us. Mendrisiotto is known for its Mediterranean vibe, vineyards, mountains, charming villages, and delicious food. If you arrive early or stay a bit longer, here are some wonderful ideas to enjoy the region.

Where to Eat
The area is full of traditional “grotti” (typical Ticino restaurants), cozy osterias, and scenic dining spots.

- Grotto Bundi — Authentic Ticinese cuisine in a charming vineyard setting
- Osteria Enoteca Cuntitt — In a hidden village of Castel San Pietro, haute cuisine offering you an unforgettable gastronomic experience, enhanced by a warm welcome and impeccable, professional service
- Grotto Grassi Tremona — In the forest, on the mountain and overlooking the lake Lugano in a hidden gem. Consider a little walk to access the place (unless your car is small enough to fit through the narrow Ticinese streets ;))
- Grotto Eremo San Nicolao — Super authentic and cute grotto in the hill with traditional cuisine from Ticino
- Ristorante Montalbano by Mirko Rainer — Delicate and deliciours restaurant in Stabio. Cucina d'authore, wine selection and unique panorama. Experience gourmet and special events in the heart of Ticino

Tip: In Ticino, long lunches and aperitivo hours are a must — enjoy them slowly.

Our Personal Recommendation
The perfect day could look like this:

Morning hike or scenic train → long lunch at a grotto → afternoon gelato → sunset aperitivo by the lake.

Dress Code

What should I wear?

No strict dress code :) come elegant, festive and ready to celebrate.

Our wedding will take place outdoors in a garden, under the August sun and (hopefully) a beautiful summer evening sky. It will likely be warm during the day, but nights can get a little fresher, so bringing a light layer might not be a bad idea.

And one small tip for the shoe lovers: the dance floor might be grass… so choose your heels wisely!

Kiddos

Are kids included in the party?

We love all the children in our lives dearly! However, due to the specific layout and logistical constraints of the house, we aren't able to provide the comfort necessary to host everyone’s little ones. For this reason, we have decided to keep our wedding an adults-only event. We hope this advance notice allows you to join us for a night of celebration, and we can’t wait to see you on the dance floor!

If there is no other way around or if you need help finding childcare recommendations in the area, please let us know and we'd be happy to help.
